To obtain VTC driver certification or authorization, you must meet the following conditions:
- license for 3 years
- clean criminal record)

You must choose
your status as an entrepreneur to become a VTC driver (micro-entrepreneur, Eurl: Individual entrepreneur, company). We provide you with the necessary information.

WHAT TRAINING DO I NEED TO BECOME A VTC DRIVER?
Training to become a VTC driver:
VTC: Tourist car with driver or Transport vehicle with driver or VMDTR:
VMDTR: Two or three-wheeled motorized vehicle (meaning “for transport with driver”) is highly recommended to have a chance of passing the exam.
But it is not obligatory. VTC training lasts between 50 hours and approximately 300 hours. The duration varies depending on the training center and the location where you take it. The content of the training is designed to prepare you for the VTC exam. It trains you for the theoretical written tests (regulations) and the practical tests (driving, behavior, etc.).
HOW MUCH DOES VTC TRAINING COST?
VTC training costs between approximately €400 and €1,500. It is payable either online on the training center's website or on-site. Its price varies depending on the center. You can use your personal training account. You can obtain funding assistance by seeking advice from Pôle emploi.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE VTC DRIVER EXAM?
You must register on the
CMA website: CMA : Chamber of Trades and Crafts in your region.
The cost of registering for the VTC exam is approximately €200. You can pay online.
WHAT ARE THE TESTS TO BECOME A VTC DRIVER?
The VTC driver test takes place in 2 parts:
Business Management and Accounting Negotiation and commercial loyalty Regulations on the activity of VTC driver Road safety rules Fluency in French and English

request your VTC card.
It is valid for 5 years. It is essential.

WHAT IS THE VTC CARD?
It is valid for 5 years. You must
have the VTC professional card to have the right to exercise your activity as a VTC driver. Afterwards, you will have to request its renewal every 5 years.
It must be placed prominently on the windshield of your vehicle and visible from the outside. You can remove it when you are not carrying out your activity.
WHERE TO APPLY FOR THE VTC CARD?
You must
request your card from the prefecture from the department of your home.
DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR VTC DRIVER CARD APPLICATION
You must send a copy of the following documents to the prefecture:
- Identity card (CNI: CNI: National identity card) front/back or passport
- Valid driving license
- Certificate of successful completion of the VTC exam
- Positive medical opinion (cerfa n°14880)
- 2 recent photos
The VTC driver professional card is payable. It costs approximately €60. You can pay online on the prefecture website.

You must be registered on the
online service for checking VTC cards, called “Cerbère Authentication Portal”. This service allows customers to check the validity of your card. It must be available on the customer-driver matching platform.
REGISTER ON THE VTC REGISTER
Registration in the VTC register is mandatory to carry out the activity. It must be done online.
It must be renewed every 5 years. It costs €170., payable online on the registry website. It is used to give you a personal account where you must record all the events of your professional life. Any change in your situation, including the cessation of activity, must be reported within 3 months.
Attention Failure to register with the VTC register is considered an illegal practice of this activity. It is punishable by one year of imprisonment and a fine of €15,000. For your first registration, you must provide the following documents:
- Professional civil liability insurance certificate
- Proof of registration of your company : Siren number, proof of registration with the RNE: Proof used to prove the existence of a company. This is either an extract from the trade and companies register (RCS) or Kbis extract, or an extract from the national business directory (RNE). or Kbis extract
- Copy of the registration certificate (grey card)
- Copy of the VTC professional card
- Proof of financial guarantee: Written guarantee commitment from a mutual guarantee company, an insurance company or a financial institution, covering the risk of non-payment by a debtor (a company vis-à-vis its employees and creditors, for example) of €1,500 for each vehicle used regularly. This guarantee is not necessary if you own the vehicle or if you rent it (rental for more than 6 months). In this case, you must provide any supporting documentation to prove ownership or rental.
RENEW YOUR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE
Every 5 years you must renew your professional license. To obtain renewal, you must complete a continuing education course. This course lasts 2 days (14 hours). If you complete the internship, you will receive a certificate.
This process must be completed 3 months before the end of validity. You can find the list of approved training centers on the CMA website: CMA: Chamber of Trades and Crafts in your department.
